For several years now, a sparrow often flies over the VEZBA page. His name is Boril!
Boril is a symbol and logo of the VEZBA brand, you know it, but you don't know its history.
We decided it's time to share it with you, because it's not random, like all the other stories around the brand.
It all starts with a favorite of the founders of VEZBA, a story about patriotism, told by the great Joko Rosic.
"In a terrible winter, it's up on the border between former Yugoslavia and Hungary, continental climate, the winters are cruel, terrible, and we sit - then there was no steam heating, firewood in the classroom...
She came in, the lady, as I called her, and said:
- Children, I want you to go out the windows and look at something. And what do you see?
And we all:
- Snow, icicles, sleepovers.
- No, no - he said - look below, on the street.
We looked and someone, it might have been me, said:
- Well, there are 5-6 sparrows.
- Ah - he said - take a good look at them. Now go back to the chairs, to the tables. I wanted to tell you something about them. Look - there are some birds that come in the spring, when the fruit trees bloom, when the flowers start to bloom - they come to our place then, they live for a while, then they breed, and as a rush to winter, they go somewhere warm. And these sparrows, they stand here, they were born here and they will die here. They're blue with cold, they're calloused with cold, but here they'll stay!"
Influenced by the story of Joko Rosic, one of the future founders of VEZBA, he already has a tattoo of a sparrow with a cap, precisely because he believes that people should stay in Bulgaria and fight, just like sparrows in the cold.
Thus, Tsvetomir and Zdravko naturally came to the choice of a logo and symbol of their future, called VEZBA.
Let's also tell you more about the people who created the sparrow as you know it today.
Petya Evlogieva – the person who created the prototype of the sparrow, without having any idea that it would become a symbol of a Bulgarian fashion brand. Petya is an artist, part of the "Golden Apple" team, author of the "Liska" series of children's books, but her main occupation is tattoos. It was she who created the cap sparrow tattoo of Zdravko Zelenogradski, which we mentioned above. Petya is one of the most famous tattooists in the country and has a number of participations and exhibitions behind him.
Martina Blazheva is the person responsible for the finished image of the sparrow. Martina graduated in painting from the National Art Academy and is currently a professional make-up artist. Since Tsvetormi Petkov and Martina have been friends even before the creation of VEZBA and he is aware of her creative skills, together with Zdravko they turn to her to style the sparrow tattooed by Petya Evlogieva and give it a suitable look for a symbol of the brand. It was painted by hand many times by her, until it reached its current appearance.
In 2021, the sparrow officially gets the name you already know - Boril! In an organized contest, Vezba asked his followers and like-minded people to vote for a name for the sparrow, and after a fierce battle and a runoff, Boril prevailed and won.
Sparrow Boril is literally always next to you. He can be seen, embroidered, on every single garment of VEZBA, on every packaging box of the brand, as well as in much of the correspondence between VEZBA and customers, as he is the main messenger and beloved employee of the company. The most wonderful thing is that Boril's family is growing, just like VESBA's. Thanks to you - our followers and like-minded people, we hope that soon we and Boril will again tell you some new, interesting story about the VEZBA family.
So, a sparrow named Boril, born from the mind and hands of Petya and Martina, with a name chosen by you, becomes the symbol and logo of the VEZBA company.
