I am
This embroidery comes from the Thracian historical-geographical area. It was found on the bosom of a man's shirt. Here the dominant symbol is that of
The self that says, "I am," "I am responsible." And the embroidered "slingshots" eloquently "speak" about this, as well as the fiery red, flaming triangle at the top, searching the sky. The image is a modified image of the first letter of the Glagolitic "I", which contains within itself one of the main messages about man and knowledge, encoded in the center of the image with the four fruit squares in the Tree of Life and the "scattered" knowledge that every person should to rediscover. And this mythical composition is guarded by two gaping hounds, friends of man in life and in death. The dog is an intermediary between the dead and the gods, a symbol of fidelity and unwavering affection. For the proto-Bulgarians, a dog means prosperity in the future.
In the embroidery, the zigzag embroidery edging clearly stands out, which symbolizes the irresistible force of the waves and has a protective function. The protection comes from the Bulgarians' belief that water is always the boundary between life and death. It is a strong barrier to human evils, and therefore the wavy line is a sure guard to preserve the power and energy of the embroidery.
The "I Am" quilt image is filled with cross stitch and contour stitch.
