The great and lofty goal of liberating the Fatherland has often been an outburst of inspiration and unsuspected powers even in gentle maidens. Such is Raina Popgeorgieva, known to us also by the nickname Raina Knyaginya, born in 1856 in Panagyurishte. The pages of Bulgarian history have written many glorious words about the feat and contribution of the remarkable flag bearer. She wrote her autobiography, in which she describes one of the fateful moments in her life – her meeting with Benkovski and the honor of sewing the Bulgarian flag. Raina Popgeorgieva leaves generations with a memory of a heroic life filled with devotion to the motherland and ardent patriotism. The April uprising on April 20, 1876 is proof and a pledge that our people can and must build the bright building of their future with their own hands. Bright Bulgarian sons and daughters take the path of immortality and pay with their lives, their honor, their property and the well-being of their families. All this in the name of the right for every Bulgarian to be free.
Based on real events from our history, we decided to recreate in an artistic way a rebellion that embodies civil disobedience and disagreement with the decisions made by the ruling class about the fate of the people.
We at Vezba assisted in the realization of their undertaking. We made the banner together with "Balkanfolk Folk Costume Studio" and provided clothes for the participants in the video clip.
