Везба - една идея с мисия

Vezba - an idea with a mission

Embroidery - art of making decoration using needle and thread. – This is also one of the values that our brand protects and is a basic rule in the making of our clothes. The proof of this lies in every single product.

Vespa is one of the main treasures of the Bulgarian way of life and culture and is an invariable part of our history. Unfortunately, a huge part of this wealth has already been lost or is about to be destroyed. This is among our main motivations and root cause for creating Vezba.

The brand exists since the beginning of 2017 and creates clothes for everyday life, on which are embroidered embroidery found in different parts of Bulgaria. The goal has always been one - to preserve as many pieces of our history as possible on the embroidered clothes.

A year later, after many lessons, after many ups and downs, Vezba returns stronger than ever to share with you what she is and what she protects.

For many, the word folklore is loaded with the general idea of culture, traditions, values and patriotism. For many, however, it is something archaic, something that is not relevant or applicable today, but it is a fact that it is part of our history and it is up to us to preserve it.

Because of this, Vezba's main mission is to be the guardian of traditions.

We stand proudly behind the cause and will share with you all the stages we go through in the search for each embroidery. You will learn about the process of making each of our clothes, we will give you examples of how this happened historically. We will tell you the stories of people we have met and contributed to our initiative. *A little more info on the culprits behind Vezba:

Tsvetomir Petkov was born in the city of Troyan . He completed his primary education, majoring in advertising graphics at the local art school. He completed his secondary education at the textile technical school in Sofia. There he understands and learns about the different materials, how they are made, the basic braids, without realizing that at some point in his life, this will be his basic knowledge related to and necessary for his work.

The young designer returns to Troyan, looking for his direction. That's how he ended up working in an embroidery workshop. He says that even the first time he decided to do it, he sat on the wrong side of the embroidery machine. From there, the passion for embroidery and Bulgarian folk embroidery on shirts was born. One day he decided to put a T-shirt on the machine, which gave him direction and the incentive to apply to the National Academy of Arts. There he studied fashion design, and even his hand-crafted collection featured embroidered folk elements on evening wear.

Zdravko Zelenogradski was born and raised in Sofia. He completed his primary education in a private school, and his secondary education in the first Spanish high school, here in Sofia. His higher education majored in Ecology because he always aimed to defend a cause.

Throughout his life, he was fascinated by Bulgarian folklore, influenced by his mother. Without realizing that her son will be attracted and influenced by the magic of Bulgarian folklore and culture, she takes him to folk dances. In reality, Zdravko has always loved and respected his homeland, but before meeting Tsvetomir, he never thought of initiating something like this and making it his main work and mission in life.

The two met in Sofia, turning out to be neighbors for many years, but without a common meeting between them. The story takes place in the capital's Banishora district and is influenced by another of their common passions - dogs.

Walking their pets in the local park, the two talk and word for word Tsvetomir shares his passion for needlework. From that moment on, the two of them together with Zdravko Zelenogradski are at the head of Vezba.

The two share that the past year was very difficult and a lot of things happened that made them doubt their success and whether they should give up at all, but their love for Bulgaria always inspired them again and gave them the motivation to continue.

They say that their dream is to be able to influence our national self-awareness, and by giving us the examples to be proud of, to give us a little more self-confidence than the fact that we are Bulgarians and were born in this magical corner of the Earth.

They wish to reach the moment when they will be able to employ interns to closely study this art and the Bulgarian history surrounding needlework.
