The crossroads

The embroidery was found on a shirt sleeve in the Graov region.
The original embroidery is an open composition of hemlocks, and in this case only one repeat, rotated at 45 degrees, is borrowed. Again the elements point to the eight cardinal directions of the world. The original embroidery is in red, green and yellow with a black outline.
Graovo (Grahovo) is a historical-geographic and ethnographic region in Western Bulgaria, Pernik region. The district covers the Brezniška and Perniška valleys, which are locked between the Zavalska-Planska mountain range (the Zavalska, Viskyar, Lyulin and Vitosha mountains) in the northeast and east and the Ruiska-Verilska mountain group (the Straža, Cherna Gora and Golo Bardo mountains) in the southwest and south .
Ethnographically, the region is typically Bulgarian and its characteristic feature is the absence of mosques during the Turkish slavery.
